The following is an excerpt from our eBook A Millennial Manifesto. You can get your own copy by entering your email below.
Millennials are artists.
We make art everywhere.
Art is a reflection of you and how you interpret the world.
Have you created your masterpiece?
The age of productivity is dead.
The age of cheap, unimaginative, soulless things is over – it’s time to make beauty again.
It’s time to make art again.
Each of us has an artist inside, waiting to get out.
Let her out.
Don’t hold back your creative side for fear of rejection or ridicule.
Pick up your pen, camera, brush, or whatever tool you have and just create.
Start with your home; make it beautiful.
Create an alluring space, not just a practical one.
Move onto your clothes.
Now comes your workplace, nay, your studio.
Have a shitty job? Make it interesting.
Create something from it.
Create art just because you can.
Stop being productive, and start being creative.
A Quick Reflection
For months, I’ve squeezed out every ounce of productivity as possible. But now that I’m a father, my priorities have shifted.
I spend my time holding my son. Not productive, but beautiful. I spend my time cleaning up the house. Not productive, but helpful. I spend my time just sitting with my wife. Not productive, but peaceful.
I’m learning to treat my time with respect. I know how easy it is to spend time on frivolous things, thinking I’m being productive, when in reality I’m just distracting myself. But now I know that productivity isn’t everything, there are more important things in life like beauty, family, and creativity.
Spend time with these things, don’t neglect them.
